No, the mint made a booboo.
They put a batch of about 20,000 coins into circulation before they realised they had forgotten to put the date on. If you have one in your pocket, it is worth £50.

I used to have machines: bandits, juke box, cigarette machine etc. They were guaranteed to get jammed every day from mid-July to September, when everyone came
back from holiday. I had a wonderful collection of the dollars, pesetas etc that had been left over and they tried to use in the machines.

The only thing I've actually seen turn up in the machines around here are a few Canadian coins. I don't suppose there are too many coins of other
